Pravrajika Satchitprana conducted a five day retreat from 28th July to 1st August, 2014
Pravrajika Satchitprana conducted a five day retreat from 28th July to 1st August, 2014 in Citrus Heights on the outskirts of Sacramento, California. About 55 people attended the retreat. She began the classes by giving some introduction to the Bhagavad Gita and explained the background of the war with some stories from the Mahabharata. To set the scene of the Gita, she traced how the grief of Arjuna can be likened to depression, the disease of the modern age. She explained the gunas, the three states of consciousness and how desires are the root cause of our problems. After speaking about the signs of the enlightened being in Chapter 2, she discussed Chapter 3; and there, the question of how to know what is one's swadharma generated a lot of questions. Satchitprana answered the questions and helped the participants to find their own conclusions. The last two days were filled with discussions over the subjects studied. At the end of the retreat, all felt enlightened and uplifted, and came away with greater understanding for the teachings of yoga in the Gita.Back to News Archives
